SUMMARY:Auckland FLINT : Innovation\, Technology & Optimising Cities
DESCRIPTION:FLINT and TUANZ\, together with Infrastructure New Zealand\, are delighted to invite you to our next event “Innovation\, Technology and Optimising Cities”. Please join your FLINT colleagues along with InfrastructureNZ’s Emerging Talent Network for a discussion with industry leaders Richard Menzies (Uber) and Robert Berrill (Spark). This collaborative event\, to be held during Tech Week\, is designed to showcase technological innovations and demonstrate how these developments are going to optimise our cities. A question and answer session will follow and the evening will conclude with networking and refreshments generously provided by Uber and Spark. \nOur speakers for the evening are: \n \nRichard Menzies\, GM Uber New Zealand. As an early member of the Uber New Zealand team\, Richard was initially responsible for launching Uber in Wellington.  He now heads up the New Zealand market as General Manager\, responsible for regional expansion\, product launches and growth of a marketplace that currently links approx. 6\,000 driver-partners to 450\,000 regular riders in New Zealand.  Richard is passionate about evolving the way Kiwis get from A to B and reducing congestion in our cities. Prior to Uber\, he worked in Corporate Finance with Deloitte\, with a broad range of experience across transaction services\, valuation and M&A. \n \nRichard Berrill\, GM of Physical Infrastructure\, Spark. Robert Berrill is the General Manager of Physical Infrastructure for Spark New Zealand and is responsible for designing\, building and operating Spark’s physical network assets including mobile towers\, data centres\, network exchanges and the physical layer of Spark’s backhaul and access networks.  Robert is responsible for ensuring that the physical foundation of Spark’s business and networks are highly resilient\, always on and continue to scale to meet New Zealand’s insatiable demand for high speed data at increasingly lower costs. Rob has over 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.  Prior to joining Spark\, Rob held several roles at Vodafone Group and played a pivotal role in establishing Vodafone’s centralised procurement company in Luxembourg. Robert is also a Director of FeeniX Communications\, a national and international wholesale network provider. Rob holds bachelor’s degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Otago and a Post Graduate Certificate in Management Studies from the University of Waikato. He is also a member of New Zealand’s Institute of Directors. \n
